Shirley Burns

Shirley Burns, 65, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Feb. 28, 2003. She was born in Stockton on Jan. 4, 1938, the daughter of Buddy Paul and Rachael Pace Bough. Shirley was united in marriage to Clarance J. Burns on July 8, 1954. Clarance preceded her in death on July 23, 2002.

Shirley had worked at the Shirt Factory in El Dorado Springs for many years. She loved to do crafts and especially quilting and sewing. Her family was always very important to her. She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church at Cedar Springs.

Besides her husband, Shirley was also preceded in death by her son, Jody Burns, in 1969. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Burns - El Dorado Springs, and Jamie Clif Burns - San Antonio, TX; her mother, Rachael Bough - Wichita, KS; two sisters, Judy Garrett and Eunice Susan Bough; four brothers - Jack Bough, Richard Bough, Mike Bough and Doug Bough; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday morning, March 4, at the Hackleman Chapel with Bro. Everett Smith officiating. Musical selections were provided by Faith Trussell. Interment was in the Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Doug Bough, Raymond Swindle, Steve Hofer, Everett Smith, Gene Hoover and Paul Miller.

Charles D. Gayer

Charles D. Gayer, El Dorado Springs, was born Aug. 7, 1908, in Cottonwood Falls, TX, to Delmar and Mary Gayer and passed away Feb. 26, 2003, in Community Springs healthcare facility, El Dorado Springs.

He was a WWII veteran and a longtime resident of both Mountain Grove and Dederick. He was a member of the Mountain Grove Assembly of God Church and an avid spectator of church and city sports.

Charles is survived by one half-brother, Eugene Estep, Tulsa, OK; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella.

ervices were Saturday, March 1 in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Bro. Howard McPeak officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery west of Dederick, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.

C. Bernard Beeny

G. Bernard Beeny, 85, Nevada, formerly of Sheldon, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2003, at his residence. He was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Sheldon, to Calvin W. Beeny and Ethel A. Higgins Beeny.

He was married June 29, 1939, in Kansas City, KS, to Virginia D. White Beeny. She preceded him in death Nov. 9, 1974. He was then married Oct. 9, 1975, in Nevada to Mary L. Moffett who survives of the home.

Mr. Benny was a member of Sheldon Christian Church. He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1936. After high school he attended mortuary college in Kansas City, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was Past Master of the Sheldon Masonic Lodge. He and his brother, Gerald, owned and operated Beeny Funeral Home and Beeny Hardware and Furniture store in Sheldon for many years. He retired in 1981 and moved to Nevada where he lived the remainder of his life.

Along with his wife, Mary, survivors include one son, Richard Donavan Beeny - Twalatine, OR; one daughter, Virginia Gean Myers - Nevada; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Jean Castor - Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia, and one brother, Gerald Beeny.

Services were held Feb. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment followed in Sheldon Cemetery.
Family suggest memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or the Sheldon Cemetery Association.
