Louella Frances Raymond Charles, 82, Winston-Salem, N.C., formerly of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away Sat¬urday, March 29, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1920, in Fowler, IN, to Arthur and Golda Kimberlin Raymond.
Mrs. Charles was a member of Burkhead United Methodist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C. Her schooling was at El Dorado Springs.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her hus¬band, Robert L. Charles, of the home; one daughter, Sue Mad¬den and husband, Robert - Strongsville, OH; one son, William Charles and wife, An¬gela - Winston-Salem; three grandchildren - Katy Charles, Jeffrey Klubnik and Michael Klubnik; two great-grandchil¬dren - Kayley and Matthew; and one sister, Ruby Lewman - Liberty.
Services were Monday, March 31, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Kathie Sherrill officiating, entombment followed under the direction of Vogler and Sons Renolda Road Chapel, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Edna Murl Bourland
Edna Murl Bourland, 87, daughter of Wesley Lawrence and Mable (Calvird) Zeiler, was born Aug. 22, 1915, in St. Clair County and departed this life March 27, 2003, at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home, Appleton City.
Murl and Forrest Bourland were united in marriage on Jan. 27, 1936, in Lowry City. To this union one son, Ronald, was born.
The Bourlands were very hard workers doing a great deal of gardening. They could often be seen selling fruit and vegetables in the city park. Murl spent many loving hours caring for her grandchildren, guiding and teaching them in her special way.
Mrs. Bourland was very faithful in her attendance to the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City. She taught Sunday School, led a Bible study and enjoyed singing the old Gospel songs. She was always a willing worker and enjoyed helping at church functions. Murl always had a smile and a cheerful, kind word for those she met on the street. She was never too busy or in too much of a hurry to stop to visit. She was truly a faithful servant of Christ throughout her life.
Murl was preceded in death by her parents; her son; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest, of the home; two grandchildren - Rick Bourland - Appleton City, and Brenda and her husband, Greg Smythers - Durham, NC; and six great-grandchildren - Brandon, Kelsey and Emily Smythers, Colby, Katie and Colton Bourland.
Services were held Sunday, March 30, at the Church of God (Holiness), Appleton City, with Rev. Bob Fenwick officiating. Musical selections, "In The Garden" and "The Crystal Foun¬tain," were provided by vocalist Chris Heiserman, accompanied by organist, Mary Ann Crowder and pianist, Patricia Ashley.

Michael James Eaton
Michael James Eaton, 22, Willard, died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident west of El Dorado Springs on Wednesday, March 26, 2003. His mother, Carol Denmark, also died in that accident.
He was born Oct. 8, 1980, with his twin sister, Alyson, in Fayetteville, AR.
He worked as a certified medical aide at Bristol Manor, Willard. He was an avid music lover, lived each day to the fullest and was a wonderful worker with children, as his many nieces and nephews knew full well. He liked "hanging out" with his twin, Allie. He had a never-ending smile and will be greatly missed.

Edward Lee Friar, 78, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Monday evening, March 24, 2003, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
Ed was born on Feb. 26, 1925, in St. Clair County, the son of Orrin and Lola Downs Friar.
Ed graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1942. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until the end of World War II. After returning, he purchased a grocery store in Tiffin.
On March 6, 1947, Ed was united in marriage to Betty Jean Bybee. To this union four children were born.
He worked as a Drayman for the MKT Railroad and contin¬ued in the profession until he retired in 1987.
Ed was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. Ed was always proud of his community, serving on the City Council and Auxiliary Police. He was a member of the American Legion #0233 and VFW Post 257.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Robert and Joseph Ray Friar.
Ed is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; four children and their spouses - Glenda and Bob Baker - College Station, TX, Georgia and John Detwiler, Jerry and Rhonda Friar and Terri and Terry McCallister - all of El Dorado Springs; his sister, Betty Helm - Kansas City; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, March 28, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Willoughby officiating. Musical selections were provided by Faith Trussell. Interment was in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery under direction of Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were David Baker, Michael Baker, Kyle Baker, Brent Detwiler, Austin Morgan, Logan Friar, Jesse McCallister, Jason Handy and Richard Leroux. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Holguin, Eric Holguin, Hunter Baker, Dillon Baker and Payton Morgan.

Joseph Waldon Barlow Sr.
Joseph Waldon Barlow Sr., 89, was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Trenton, to Charles and Rosella Coberley Barlow and passed away March 12, 2003, in Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado Springs.
On Jan. 19, 1948, he married Dorothy Bree.
Joseph served his country in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1829 of Kansas City, and American Legion Post 0340 of Sugar Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, on Oct. 5, 1974; three brothers - Hayward Barlow, Bill Barlow and Jessie Barlow; and one sister, Ida Mae Ball.
Joseph is survived by two sons, Joseph W. Barlow Jr. and his wife, Dora - Blue Springs, and Charles W. Joseph served his country in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1829 of Kansas City, and American Legion Post 0340 of Sugar Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, on Oct. 5, 1974; three brothers - Hayward Barlow, Bill Barlow and Jessie Barlow; and one sister, Ida Mae Ball.
Joseph is survived by two sons, Joseph W. Barlow Jr. and his wife, Dora - Blue Springs, and Charles W. Roy Franklin Barlow
Roy Franklin Barlow, 76, El Dorado Springs, was born on Dec. 12, 1927, in Marcus, IA, the son of Carl and Annie Brown Barlow and passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004.
Mr. Barlow was employed for many years as fire chief of the Castlewood Fire Department, Castlewood, CO. Upon his retirement in 1979, the Barlow's moved to El Dorado Springs.
After becoming settled in Cedar County, Roy opened a saw shop and later drove cars for Fugate Motors.
An Air Corp veteran, Mr. Barlow was very involved with the Lutheran Church and the United Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs.
He was a member of the Lions Club and thoroughly enjoyed his association with this group.
Survivors include his wife, Donna - of the home; four children - Ron Barlow, and his wife-Sharon - North Glen, CO, Peggy Sokol and her husband-Mark - Littleton, CO, Paula Hjelm and her husband-John - Morrison, CO, and Steve Smith and his wife-Kathleen - Hernandez, NM; his sister, Dorothy Rose - Kentucky; his brother-in-law, Charles Hill - El Dorado Springs; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Floyd was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. He lived many years in Monroe, MI, where he worked for Lake Stamping Co. from 1939 until retiring in 1972. After retirement, Floyd moved to Shell Knob.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Eva.
He is survived by his daughter Neoma Blystone - El Dorado Springs; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and great-great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Jack Edwards Clark, 70, was born March 1, 1933, in Kansas City, to Thomas Bascom and Cora Belle (Wilson) Clark. He passed away March 5, 2003, at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City.
On April 17, 1953, Jack was united in marriage at Ottawa, KS, to Doris Marie Bussell.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean war and was honor¬ably discharged from the Reserves in 1981. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and bingo. He was a member of the Circle Lodge #342 A.F. and A.M., the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City, the VFW Post #257 in El Dorado Springs and the Tiffin Baptist Church. He served on the city council of Roscoe for 10 years.
Jack was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie Dale Clark and Jerry Lee Clark; his parents; two brothers, James Clark and Thomas Clark; and two sisters, Ada Hardwick and Jean Rector.

William R. Evans
William R. Evans, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at National Healthcare, Joplin. He was born on Nov. 7, 1915, in Lonetree, the son of John Henry and Ruth Ester Queen Evans.
Mr. Evans was united in marriage to Hazel L. Eaton on June 23, 1937. Although they had no children of their own, they always thought of Hazel's sister, Frances' children, as theirs.
Mr. Evans was a brick mason by trade and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Union Hall Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, on June 26, 2001; his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Frank D. Evans, R.D. Evans, Ernest Evans, Oliver Evans, Leona Evans and Mary Evans.
Survivors include his sister, Mildred Wiggins - Independence; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law - Lola Evans - Independence, Bob and Georgia Eaton - Lowry City, Joe and Mary Eaton and Mary and Charles Carson - El Dorado Springs, Betty and Doyle Finley - Peculiar, and Raymond and Kathy Eaton - Independence. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 8, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Musical selections were provided by Ruth Brown. Interment was in the Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pall¬bearers were John Evans Jr., Jeffrey Holt, David Eaton, David Evans, Greg Overstreet and Charles Carson. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Brown and James Carson.

Maggie Lorene Davis, 85, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Monday morning, March 3, 2003, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Feb. 12, 1918, in Cedar Springs, the daughter of Fred and Ada Francis Long Spencer.
Mrs. Davis married John T. Davis on Dec. 26, 1944, in Killeen, TX. She was a homemaker and mother for the last 58 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in El Dorado Springs.
She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; her two daughters, Linda Kay Groom and Ruth Ellen Warstler; her son, John Michael Davis; four brothers - Edward, Edwin, Carroll Lee and Jim Spencer; one sister, Mary Lou Long; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, March 7, at the Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Clintonville Cemetery

Clarence Carl Coleman
Clarence Carl Coleman, 91, was born Aug. 10, 1911, at Roscoe, to William Penn and Della King Coleman. He departed this life at 6 a.m. on March 2, 2003.
Clarence was united in marriage to Alice Woody on June 20, 1934, at Osceola. He lived most of his life in Cedar and St. Clair Counties. He was a farmer who loved the outdoors, music and living life to the fullest. He went to work at Producers Milk Plant in 1947 until retirement in 1974.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Alice; mother, Della; father, William; two brothers, Manuel and Melvin; and two sisters, Lovara Coleman and Loree Howerton.
He is survived by his two sons Clarence Jr. and wife, Shirley and Gary K. and his wife, Vickie; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Loless Roberts, and her husband, Dean; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
