Coy Edward Cargill

Coy Edward Cargill, 81, Stockton, was born Jan. 3, 1922 and passed away July 1, 2003, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was baptized Nov. 7, 1943, in Snagg Creek by Bro. Arthur Wynes of the Missionary Baptist Church.

On April 26, 1947, Coy was united in marriage to Louise Evelyn McAlexander in Fort Scott, KS. To this union one son and three daughters were born.

Coy was a very dedicated, quiet and gentle family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and father-in-law.

Coy worked very hard all of his life. He was a sawyer and ran a thrashing machine, worked in hay fields, farmed and was a great carpenter from which he retired in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Vera Cargill; brother, Finis Cargill; sister, Faye Julian; and great-grandson,
Johnathan Michael Simon.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise - of the home in Stockton; one son, Jim Cargill and wife, Judy - El Dorado Springs; three daughters - Sherrie Newman and husband, Larry - Stockton, Cathy Burres and husband, Randy - Eagan, MN, and Star Turner and husband, Chuck - Nevada; eight grandchildren - Tara Williams and husband, Jamie - Nevada, Christy Gerling and husband, Clay - Lamar, Casey Burres and wife, Lacey - Inver Grove Heights, MN, Chad Cargill and Natausha Laning - Taberville, Sarah Turner - Springfield, Corey Burres and wife, Shana - Apple Valley, MN, Julia Wimsatt and husband, Patrick - Stockton, and Daktota Newman - Stockton; 10 great-grandchildren - Lakelyn and Ridge Simon - Nevada, Brantt and Braxton Williams - Nevada, Tanner Newman - Lamar, Austin and Sierra Gerling - Lamar, Wyatt and Hallie Wimsatt - Stockton and Christiana Burres - Apple Valley, MN; five brothers - Mervin and wife, Shirley - Stockton, Irvin and wife, Jackie - Stockton, Valice - Stockton, Ivan and wife, Beulah - Stock¬ton, and Arlin - El Dorado Springs; three sisters - Zelia Houston - Shawnee Mission, KS, Melva Wallen and husband, Gerald - Stockton, and Winoma Brown - Kansas City; lots of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Coy had a great love for deer hunting, turkey hunting and fishing.

He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Services were held Saturday, July 5, at Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton. Burial was in the Pankey Cemetery, Stockton.
