Betty (Hutchison) Bartkoski


Betty (Hutchison) Bartkoski, 78, El Dorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Vernon County, on Oct. 4, 1931, to Walter and Ruby (Whitley) Hutchison.

Betty was united in marriage to Joseph Edward Bartkoski on Jan. 18, 1948. Together they had 15 children and raised one grandson while living in Nevada, MO, Phoenix, AZ, and later, El Dorado Springs. After moving to El Dorado Springs, Betty worked at Community Springs Healthcare Facility for 20 years. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Preceding Betty in death were - her parents, one granddaughter, one son-in-law, one sister, Norma Horning, and her loving husband, Joe.

Betty is survived by three sisters - Marvalene Troyer - Shawnee Mission, KS, Emily Reynolds - Warsaw, and Wanda Hulett - Kansas City; two brothers, Robert Hutchison - Walker, and Donald Hutchison - Nevada; 15 children - Tom Bartkoski - Lake Stevens, WA, Patricia Many - Ozark, Virginia Binder - Humansville, Barbara Jessup - Grand Junction, CO, Margaret Sherman - Glendale, AZ, Beverly Schroeder - Hamilton, MT, Jodi Cauthon - El Dorado Springs, Rosemary Turner - Milo, Edward Bartkoski - El Dorado Springs, Eileen Gooden - Montevallo, Kathy Porter - Sikeston, Carolyn Crisp - Hollister, Becky Collins - El Dorado Springs, Betty Jo Convery - Normal, IL, and Jeff Bartkoski – Springfield; and grandson, Christopher Binder - Buckeye, AZ; 38 other grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; many other friends, relatives and extended family members.

The family of Betty Bartkoski will receive friends at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 28, with Fr. Basil Doan officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Betty’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Betty Bartkoski may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
