Melvin Clay Simpson

Melvin Clay Simpson, 94, Great Bend, KS, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Great Bend Health and rehabilitation Center. He was born Jun 17, 1917, at Newby, OK, to William Thomas and Sara (Davis) Simpson.

He married Frances Jackson on March 13, 1934, in Osceola.

He was the owner and operator of Murray-Simpson Casing Crews.

Mr. Simpson was a Great Bend, KS, resident since 1941 moving from Eaton, CO. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Elizabeth Simpson, of the home; one son, Kenny W. Simpson, and wife, Denise – Fayetteville, AR; three daughters – Ruby Feil and husband, Ron – Great Bend, KS, Doris Case and husband, Glenn – Sacramento, CA, Barbara J. Espinosa and husband, Robert – Great Bend, KS; one sister, Betty Ruth Rasmussen – Fuquay-Varina, NC; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grand children and numerous great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Wayne Simpson Jr; one daughter, Nelta Irene Jones; two brothers, Albert Simpson and Vonley Simpson; two sisters, Maybelle Thomas and Goldie Richardson; and two grand children, Cathy Marshall and Randy Marshall.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the First Assembly of God in Great Bend with Pastor Dwight Dozier officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home.
