Lorene (Williams) Elliott
Lorene (Williams) Elliott, 76, the third of 10 children born to Eula and Addie (Mallicoat) Williams on May 14, 1927, near Roscoe, departed this life for her heavenly home on Nov. 15, 2003, at Sac-Osage Hospital, Osceola.
Lorene attended elementary school at West Motley and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1945.
She married Carl Roberts on March 20, 1947. To this union, two daughters were born, Linda and Kimberly. She helped Carl in the garage in Roscoe and was a teacher's aide at Roscoe for several years. Carl died on May 20, 1968.
Lorene was saved and baptized on Feb. 22, 1954. She was a very faithful Christian and was always willing to help a family member or friend. She loved going to Sunday School and church.
On Sept. 11, 1971, she married Roy Elliott. They lived on a farm south of Osceola where she loved gardening, canning and working at anything that needed to be done. Proverbs 31:10-30 is very fitting for a woman such as Lorene.
Lorene entered the Truman Lake Manor in May 2000. All the workers loved her. They were very good to her. She always had kind words about all the caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her dad and mom; two brothers, Junior and Everett; and infant twin sisters.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Roy, who was so faithful to visit her ev¬eryday during the 3 1/2 years she was at Truman Lake Manor; two daughters, Linda Basore, and husband-Denny - Appleton City, and Kim Short and husband, Archie; one step-son, Garrett Elliott, and wife-DeAnn - Osceola; four grandchildren who knew her as Nana - Mende and Melissa Short and Travis and Tyson Basore; three step-grandchildren - Travis, Nikki and Kyle Elliott; two brothers, Gene and Lorene - Gladstone, and Kenneth and Lorraine - Lee's Summit; three sisters - Malene Ingalls - Seat¬tle, WA, Betty and Bill Roberts - Springfield, and Jewel Dene and Junior Nitsche - Roscoe; sisters-in-law - Neva, Junie, Dorothy, Carol and Helen; 15 nieces and nephews; many cousins and a host of friends.
Lorene always enjoyed family get-togethers so much. Her death leaves an empty spot in all our lives that can never be filled. Her loving memory will live on in our hearts and minds to be cherished as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sis¬ter and friend. Our loss is certainly God's gain.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 22, at Roscoe Christian Church with Rev. John Pommert officiating. Interment was in Roscoe Cemetery under direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
