Sam J. Austin, 75, found his eternal rest at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003. After a short illness, he passed away in his home with his family close by his side.
Sam was born March 13, 1928, the son of Charles and Eula Austin. He was raised, and later lived, on the family farm in Cedar County near Caplinger Mills. There he lived with his family, farming and raising cattle until his retirement in 1997 when he and his wife moved to Stockton.
On March 16, 1947, he was married to Beverly June Garrett. To this union, two children were born, Angela Patricia and Paula Kim. He had five grandchildren - Cholly, Courtney, Christian, Sell and Samuel Ghandehari and several great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; his daughters and their families - Angela Vaughan - California, MO, and Paula Austin - Moscow, OH; and a niece, Carolyn Daughtery - Moscow, OH.
Sam was a member of the Stockton Christian Church and lived his entire life in Cedar County. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with grandson, Samuel.
He will be greatly missed by his family, where he was a major influence in their lives. Sam will remain in the hearts of his beloved family forever.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 22, at Stockton Christian Church, with burial in the Hackleman Cemetery near Caplinger Mills.
