Edna Mae Christie

Edna Mae Christie, 74, was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Kansas City to William M. and Lottie E. Stinson Bush. She passed away Sept. 6, 2003, at her home in El Dorado Springs.

Edna was raised in the greater Kansas City area.

On April 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Arthur E. Christie in Kansas City, KS. This union was blessed with a daughter and two sons.

Arthur and Edna spent their early married life in the Kansas City area where she worked for 25 years as a beautician. In later years Edna became well known as a real estate broker.

In Sept. of 1973, she and Arthur moved to El Dorado Springs, where they were mak¬ing their home at the time of her death.
God has long been a major factor in Edna's life. She joined the Rainbow Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, KS, at an early age. Later she and Arthur started the Highland Crest Church of the Nazarene in a small house and Edna's Sunday School class was taught in the bathroom. After their move, she was a faithful and longtime member of the El Dorado Springs Church of the Nazarene.

Edna enjoyed over 35 years of teaching Sunday School. She taught a range of classes including primary, young marrrieds and adults. Edna's life's passion was building the Kingdom of God and being obedient to her Lord regardless of what other people thought. She was an excellent cook and especially loved to cook for large numbers of people. She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Junior Bush, and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Bates.

She is survived by her hus¬band of 55 years, Arthur, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Deb¬orah Barlow - El Dorado Springs; two sons, Billy - Olathe, KS, and Bob - El Dorado Springs; seven grandchil¬dren - Angela Barlow, Amy Hampton and Drew, Chase, Camille, Hollie and Justin Christie; other relatives and many friends whose lives she strongly touched.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the El Dorado Springs Church of the Nazarene with Revs. Wendell Daniel and Danny Bohi officiating. Music was "In The Garden" and "My Wonderful Lord" sung by Larry Worthington accompanied by Barry Witt.

Casketbearers were Bob Christie, Bill Christie, Robert Barlow, Bobby Barlow, Ronnie Hampton, Ben Wor¬thington and Drew Christie. In¬terment was in Love Cemetery, El Dorado Springs, under direc¬tion of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
