Jack L. Parker



Jack L. Parker, 60. El Dorado Springs, was born July 8, 1949, in Kansas City, to Reuben B. and Thelma (Cassity) Parker. He passed away in El Dorado Springs, on Aug. 2, 2009, after a long illness.

He married Marie Knight and to this union four children were born - Adam, Tammy, Nola and Bruce. Then in 1984 he married Shirley M. Billings and they were married for 25 years until his death.

Jack worked at Cecomo and then at Barrington when the company changed. He worked there for many years, first as a regular worker, then as day/night foreman. He also worked part time as a bartender at the Parkside Lounge Bar. Jack called the bar “The Office.” He retired from Barrington in 2004 after having to have triple by-pass surgery.

Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. He had a passion for putting out a large garden each year, especially with his late son-in-law, Jon Marten. After Jack retired he enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and son, John, and buddies down at the office.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Thelma; brother, Ted; son-in-law, Jon; and grandson, Bradley.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children - Adam, Tammy, Nola and Bruce; Terry, Karen, Paulette, Dorothy, John and Mike; grandchildren - Christopher, Tiffiany, Neka, Neno, Samantha, Dante, Courtney, Cody, Joni Lea, Travis, Tommy, Kelly, Brian, Chad, Anthony, Ce-Ce, Haley, Nicole, Rosie, Erin, Jesse, Tina, Rebecca, Bobby, Don, Jimmy, Annette and Charlene; step-great-grandchildren - Shayla, Makenna, Dayne, Draven, Jane Marie, Nicole and Grace; special cousins - Pat, Wayne, Beverly and Dan; and special friends - Dee Applebee, Ruth, Harold, Larry, Bertha, Bev, Mark, Jan, Tammie and Pamela.
Jack had a great life. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Service began at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Frank Haynes officiating. Music was How Great Thou Art, Holy Ground, Beyond The Sunrise, Queen Of Hearts, Amazing Grace, Daddy’s Hands and Wind Beneath My Wings. Interment was in Lewellan Cemetery, Branson, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.

Military honors were by Bravo Team.

Casketbearers were - Adam Parker, Brian Hilbers, Bruce Parker, John Billings, Chad Bender, Mike Billings and Wallie Bosch. Honorary casketbearers were - Jesse Voegele, Mark Voegele, Erin Voegele, Wayne Peterie and Jimmy Chaney.
