Edna Mildred Gant

Edna Mildred (Jones) Gant, 102, El Dorado Springs, passed away March 30, 2011. She was born Jan. 9, 1909, to Alvaro and Lizzie Jones in Kingfisher, OK.

Edna attended and graduated high school in 1928 at Big Four High School in Kingfisher. In 1932, she married Cleo Gant. To this union three sons were born - Gene, Norman and Wayne Allen. After Cleo’s death she married Jesse Stutesman and, after his passing, she married Charles Headlee.

She affiliated with the Methodist Church and was baptized at an early age. Edna was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed dancing, gardening and flowers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three husbands - Cleo Gant, Jesse Stutesman and Charles Headlee; two sons, Gene and Wayne Allen; a sister, Neva; a brother, Elmo; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy.

Survivors include one son, Norman and wife, Annie - El Dorado Springs; seven grandchildren - Dennis Gant, Darrell Gant and wife, Katy, Debra Smith and husband, Bob, Dale Gant and wife, Susan, Sheila Rieken and husband, Larry, Jerry Gant and wife, Annie, and Gale McBeth; a host of great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday, April 2, at Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Robert Newberry officiating. Rusty Carver provided music. Interment was Monday, April 4, at Kingfisher Cemetery in Kingfisher, OK. Arrangements were under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs.
