Mildred Alene (Jones) Cartwright

Mildred Alene (Jones) Cartwright, 78, Stockton, was born Oct. 3, 1932, to Finas and Ethel Jones. She passed away on April 10, 2011, at Community Springs Healthcare with her husband, Robert Homer Cartwright, at her bedside.

Mildred worked as a seamstress at Nellie Don’s, the Shirt Factory, the Shoe Factory, and Hagales Co.

Some of her greatest pleasures in life were her grandchildren, her children, having family get-togethers, fishing, taking and looking at pictures, and spending time with her husband. She lived a good life. She was loving, caring, strong, hardworking and patient. The relationships that she shared with her husband, children, grandchildren, in-laws, friends and neighbors were very important to her. But most important was her relationship with God. She always enjoyed preparing food for family dinners, and also enjoyed driving around with her cousin, Eleanor, looking at the leaves changing colors in the fall. Mildred was admired most for her patience, her cooking, how caring she was, and how much she loved her family.

The family believes Mildred would want to be remembered as a God-fearing Christian, as one who tried to live her life in a way that was pleasing to God, and as expressing great love for her family. Mildred told a story about when she was a girl and her dad took her down to Turkey Creek where she caught her first fish, a small perch, that they took home and cooked for dinner. She also talked about wading in the creek with her sister and how the fish would come and nibble at their legs and their feet. On another occasion, her son, Mike, found a baby squirrel which she nursed to health and loved.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Finas and Ethel Jones; a sister, Cleta May, and two infant siblings who passed shortly after birth.

Survivors include her husband Robert Homer Cartwright of the home; three sons - Robert H. Cartwright Jr. and wife - Stephanie and Ronald Eugene Cartwright and wife – Dolores - all of El Dorado Springs, and Michael Ewing Cartwright and wife – Denise - Nevada; and 11 grandchildren - Dominic, Shelby, Alexis, Adrianna, Abbigail, Wayne, Wyatt, Laylee, Ashlie, Bradley and Cailey.
