Leta Dell Cox, 98, Ex¬celsior Springs, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in the Valley Manor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Excelsior Springs.
Leta was born in Vernon County on Sept. 22, 1905, to Charlie and Nora (Hardin) Fergus. On July 12, 1929, she married Henry B. Cox. To¬gether they made their home on a farm east of Lawson. Follow¬ing his sudden death in 1979, she moved to the Grove Mobile Park in San Juan, TX, and lived there for a number of years be¬fore moving to Excelsior Springs in 1995.
She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Independence and a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Excelsior Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry B. Cox; a daughter, Wanda Fay; her brothers, Joseph Fergus and Omer Fergus; a sister, Thelma F. Williams; and nephew, Ernest Williams.
Survivors include two nephews, Charlie Williams - Fredericksburg, TX, and Eldon Williams - Independence; seven great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs. Memorials are suggested to the Odyssey Hospice or to Valley Manor Rehabilitation and Care Center.
