Carmelita Bush, 74, El Dorado Springs, was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Mission, KS, the daughter of Virgil and Cliffie Mason and passed away at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2003, at St. John's Regional Health Care Center, Springfield. Carmelita was a loving mother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Carmelita was a member of the Virgil City Baptist Church. Her favorite hobbies were drawing, making quilts for her family, writing poetry and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a great cook.
She was the kind of person who would always brighten your day even if your were feeling down. She was always there for everybody and always willing to forgive and forget. Everyone who knew Carmelita knew her as a very loving, caring and generous person.
Her faith was of utmost importance to her and her walk with God very strong. She was a good Christian person that would help anyone she could.
Survivors include her children - Len Ruth, Shawn Ruth, Clifford Ruth, Cindy Bird and Gladys Cassidy; five stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Hackleman Chapel with David Studer officiating. Musical selections were provided by Brenda Hill, Janet Cheek and Joanne Alexander. Interment was in the Virgil City Cemetery under direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Shawn Ruth, Clifford Ruth, Steve Bird, Brandy Bird, Ryan Cassidy and Tom Gough.
