Roe Norman Hamilton, 91, was born in St. Clair County, Missouri, on Dec. 7, 1918, the last surviving child of Edward Alphonso and Florence Eleanor Hamilton. He passed away Monday, May 3, 2010.
Roe married Edith Nadine Burchett on the eve of deployment overseas on Nov. 11, 1942.
Roe served his country as an airplane mechanic in the European Theater during World War II.
As a young man, Roe was a talented baseball pitcher and enjoyed playing music on any instrument he could pick up.
He was a proud father of five children, grandfather to 10 children and great-grandfather to 10 children. He loved to play jokes and was a good neighbor who would do anything for anyone without being asked. He farmed land in St. Clair and Cedar County
in the Black Jack community during the 40s and 50s. He retired from General Contractors in 1982 after 22 years in bridge construction.
Roe and Edith were married for 67 and a half years. He leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Sheila Pendergrass - Pittsburg, KS, Dennis Hamilton, and his wife, Lynda - Independence, Howard Hamilton, and his wife, Glenis - Stockton, Brenda Procter, and her husband, Michael - Columbia, and Lisa Hamilton-Hill - Columbia, and a large extended family and many friends.
Services began at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton. Interment followed in Caplinger Cemetery.
