Wayne Gigax, 75, of Marshfield, passed away April 28, 2011, in a Springfield hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Protection, KS, the son of William Paul and Alma Marie Gigax.
Wayne graduated in the class of 1953 from El Dorado Springs High School. He was class president during his senior year. He was a big part of the football and basketball teams. He had a role in the junior class play on March 28, 1952.
Wayne attended many of the class of 1953 reunions over the years and could be found at many of the ElDo picnics.
Wayne’s occupation was insurance sales and helping others with their financial needs. He built his own house in Marshfield after retirement and had a large garden from which he supplied the Marshfield and Conway Senior Centers with fresh vegetables

In January 2011, Wayne was diagnosed with leukemia and was being treated with chemotherapy at the time of his death. Cremation services were provided by Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was married May 28, 1960. Survivors include his wife, Frances, and three children. A private family memorial service was held at the home in Marshfield.
Wayne’s sister, Janet (Gigax) Richards, also survives. On April 30, 2011, she was invited to meet with a group of Wayne’s classmates and friends at McDonald’s in El Dorado Springs for a time of memorial, sharing fond memories of a brother, classmate and friend.
