Violet Skakal

Violet Ernesteen Marylin (Hopkins) Skakal, 83, Basehor, KS, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away Nov. 27, 2010, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. She was born Jan. 29, 1927, to John Lee and Charlotte H. (Shaw) Hopkins in Stockton.

One sister, Vivian (Hopkins) Read, preceded her in death on July 7, 2010.

Survivors include three children - David and Merrilyn Skakal and family - Panama City, FL, Jerry Lee and Janet Skakal and family - Olathe, KS, and Brenda (Skakal) DeRuse and family - Basehor, KS; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clete and B.J. Hopkins and family - Stockton, and Curt and Bette Hopkins and family - West Chester, PA; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel in El Dorado Springs with Larry Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Mound Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
