James L. Meisenheimer, 65, Nevada, passed away on Thursday evening, July 28, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 2, 1945, in Crescent, IA, to Merlin T. Meisenheimer and Therisa Ann Carhoff Meisenheimer. He married Belva J. Pursley on June 5, 1967, in Miami, OK, and she survives of the home.
Jim lived in various places in Missouri growing up. He joined the U. S. Navy at age 17 where he served for 22 years. He was on submarines his entire military career, retiring in 1989. Jim moved to Horton in Vernon County and then to Nevada. He drove a truck for his brother, Ed, for a number of years. Jim was a member of the VFW in El Dorado Springs.
In addition to his wife, Belva, he is survived by five children - LaDonna Bishop - Compton Junction, Rhonda Feagan and her husband, Kerry - Louisburg, Douglas Mullins - state of Maryland, James L. Meisenheimer Jr. and his wife, Debbie - Nevada and Melissa Dupree - Joplin; eight grandchildren - Steven, Nicole, Carla, Stefani, Matthew, John, Gregory and Benjamin; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Meisenheimer and Don Meisenheimer - both of Nevada; one sister, Helen Brasher - Kansas City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Scism, and one brother, Gene Meisenheimer.
A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
