Donald E. Baker

Donald E. Baker, 71, El Dorado Springs, passed away Aug. 8, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Heizer, KS, to Frank and Irene (Fenn) Baker.

In 1957 he graduated from Diamond (MO) High School. Don decided to make a career as an over-the-road truck driver. From
Dec. 12, 1986, until he retired Jan. 1, 2010, Don worked for Contract Freighters, Inc. While working there, his safety record shows no breaks in service except for family medical leave. Don achieved several milestones in his career including: Driver of
the Year in 1997; Driver of the Month, multiple times; the 1-million Mile Award; and the 2-million Mile Award.
On May 16, 2009, Don married Nadine (Snodgrass) Bough.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Todd Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine (Snodgrass) Baker, of the home; two daughters, Tiffany Rea and husband, Robbie - Seneca and Cindy O’Neall - Neosho; three grandchildren - Kadey, Maddie and Kyler Rea; two step-sons, Jerry Coleman and David Lee Coleman; and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Sunday, Aug. 14, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Johnston officiating. Burial followed in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Howard Williams, David Coleman, Mick Korn, Darren Toliver, Randy Cornell and J.R. Stroer. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Toliver, Jerry Coleman, Jody Smith, Claude Brown and Max Reitfors.
