Maxine A. Neely, 91, Lamar, passed away at Barton County Hospital on April 13, 2009. Maxine was born on April 11, 1918, to Alfred and Bertha (Shockley) Harris in Jerico Springs.
On April 11, 1934, she married Herman Neely. To this union one son was born, Herman Max. When Max was six months old, the family moved to California where they owned and operated a welding shop. Maxine also worked in hospitals and doctors offices.
Maxine loved shopping, especially Wal-Mart, and enjoyed going out to eat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Herman, in 1986; and her son, Max, in 2004.
Survivors include: one brother, Sam Harris – Jerico Springs; daughter-in-law, Irma Neely – Lamar; four granddaughters – Wendy Kruger and Candy Stewart – Washington, Melody Neely – California, and Amy Vanskike – Shelbyville; one grandson, Bo Coy – Lamar; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were Saturday, April 18, in Hall Cemetery under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
Pallbearers were – Pat Cox, Matthew Coy, Mark Coy, Bo Coy and Gary Bell.
