Robert Francis Humbird “Bob,” age 62, of El Dorado Springs, formerly of Lee’s Summit, went home on Oct 6, 2010, after an eight month battle with cancer. He was born to William and Cletus Humbird on Nov. 3, 1947.
Retired after 33 years of dedicated service at Armco Steel in Kansas City, He moved to El Dorado Springs, in search of a“less hectic” life. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Fishing, camping, metal detecting and other outdoor activities were some of his hobbies. He loved telling stories and making grandchildren laugh.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther and Pearl Humbird, and his parents, William and Cletus Humbird.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sue Humbird, of 35 years; mother-in-law, Vera “Granny” Wright of Kansas City; two sons, Darryle Humbird, and his wife, April – of Kansas City; and Jason Humbird, and his wife, Erin – of El Dorado Springs; one daughter, Stephanie Grisham – of Lee’s Summit; six grandchildren, Kalie and Kiersten Grisham; Tressa, Isaac and Gracie Humbird and Samantha Storey; two step-grandchildren, Edward and Kirsten Culbertson – of Blue Springs.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 16, 2010, at the United Methodist Church of El Dorado Springs.
