Carol Ann Johnson


Carol Ann (West) Johnson, 66, El Dorado Springs, passed away at Cedar County Memorial Hospital on July 15, 2010, after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 24, 1943, to Lee F. and Iris M. (Losey) West.

Carol grew up on the family farm in St. Clair County. She attended school at Stoney Point and later in El Dorado Springs R-II School. She later lived and worked in Springfield and Kansas City.

She married James Arnold and was blessed with a daughter, Debbie. Following, she met and married Clarence Arnold and to this union she was blessed with four more children, two sons, Clarence Jr. and Jerry, and two daughters, Betty and Sharon. On April 15, 1987, she was united in marriage to Dennis Johnson with whom she shared 23 wonderful years.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to raise flowers and enjoyed going fishing and camping. She also liked yard sales and flea markets. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers - Junior, Donnie and Ronnie West; and two sisters, Irene Anderson and Elaine Collins.

Survivors are her loving husband, Dennis Johnson; her children - Debbie Aurand - Adrian, Clarence Arnold, and wife, Kathy - Freeman, Jerry Arnold, and wife, Kathy - Archie, Betty Plumb, and husband, Larry - Peculiar, and Sharon Warren, and husband, Jay – Butler; six stepchildren - Denise Fanning, and husband, Jeff - Aurora, Duane Johnson, and wife, Annie - Schell City, Jennifer Hoffman, and husband, David - El Dorado Springs, Vance Johnson - Appleton City, Tammy McNeece, and husband, Greg - El Dorado Springs, and Chance Johnson - Springfield; one sister, Linda Lumley - El Dorado Springs; 37 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Edna Hulett – Marion, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services were held Monday, July 19, at Sheldon Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Special music was Traveler’s Prayer, No Tears In Heaven and Angel Band.

Casketbearers were - Aaron Johnson, Christopher Hubbard, Dustin Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Waylon Johnson and Michael Willis. Honorary casketbearers were - Dewayne Plumb, Eric Arnold, Justin Plumb, Lester Arnold, Matt Plumb, Aaron Warren, Jason Arnold, Jesse Arnold and Dillon Warren.

Interment was in the Clintonville Cemetery, El Dorado Springs, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home.
