Donald David Barger


Donald David Barger, 83, El Dorado Springs, was born May 4, 1927, the fifth child of Joseph Leslie and Jessie Leah (Loven) Barger in Eaton, CO. Don passed away into the presence of his Lord July 14, 2010, at home.

Don served in the United States Marine Corps. He received an honorable discharge on Aug. 21, 1946.

On July 17, 1949, Don was married to his soul mate, Margie Lou Spoor. To this union were born two sons, Donald Robert and David Lee. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Don and Margie would have celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage on July 17, 2010.

Don was a member of the Union Hall Southern Baptist Church since March of 1966. His church was an important part of his life.

Don received a Certificate of Service in recognition of 35 years of continuous service with Mid-America Dairyman, Inc. in April of 1988.

Preceding Don in death were: his parents; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Anne Allinson Barger; one grandson, Daniel Mark Barger; two brothers, Marion Leslie Barger and Robert Albert Barger; and two sisters, Anna Lea Conyers and Nina Marie Perkins.

Don leaves behind: his wife, Margie; two sons, Donald Robert, and his wife, Pat, and David Lee, and his wife, Ramona; one sister, Dorene Hiestand, and husband, Wayne; four grandchildren and their spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved him.

Services were held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Elbert Ford and Joanne Alexander provided music. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Bruce Caldwell, Frank Koger, Wayne Hiestand, Rollie Lines, Hersel Spoor and Russell Spoor. Honorary pallbearers were: Danny Quick, Jon McElwain, Stephen Barger and Kirby Patrick.

Memorial donations may be made to Union Hall Baptist Church and may be left at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
