James Hainesworth Truluck


James Hainesworth Truluck, 89, El Dorado Springs passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Community Springs Healthcare Facility in El Dorado Springs. He was born in Birmingham, AL, on May 23, 1921, to Marvin Leroy Truluck and Louise Freeman Truluck.

Jim had eight siblings - Billie Suydam, Marvin Jr., Howard Dewey, Eugene Cusick, Charles Mason, Carolyn Louise Wells, Louis Freeman and Isadore McQueen.

Jim married Luella Mae Wiley on Feb. 20, 1943, in Neosho.

He served in the US Army during World War II as Technical Sgt. for the Superior Headquarters for the Allied Expeditionary Forces (SHAEF) assigned to General Eisenhower.

After returning from Europe, he attended Joplin Business College and owned Curtis and Truluck Grocery (C & T) in El Dorado Springs. He later worked for Witt Engineering as an equipment salesman and office manager and sales manager for Fugate Ford.

Jim was proud of his service to his country and enjoyed being active in the DAV and VFW, once serving as VFW Regional Commander. He was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs and later Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Those that knew him would recall Jim as a sharply dressed man who loved professional baseball (especially the Atlanta Braves), playing catch with his kids and grandkids, carpentry, fishing and anything that had sugar as an ingredient.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Luella Truluck - El Dorado Springs; daughters, Beverly Jean Norris, and husband, Ron - Lenexa, KS, and Patricia Louise Lucke, and husband, Alan - Corpus Christi, TX; two brothers, Louis Freeman “Bud” - High Point, NC, and Isadore McQueen Truluck “Mac” - Timmonsville, SC; grandchildren - Erin Knuth - Austin, TX, Jay Lucke - Kerrville, TX, Heather Schneider - San Antonio, TX, Jeanne Lucke - Plano, TX, Megan Dorge - Jefferson City, and Adam Norris - Overland Park, KS; great-grandchildren - Troy Knuth, Nathan, Lawson and Andrew Schneider, Annabelle, Isabella and Jeremiah Dorge, Kolt and Tanner Payne and Lily and Cooper Norris; and nieces and nephews - Jackie “Lucky” Truluck, Lynne Lefteris, Mac Truluck Jr., Paige Wise, Amber Lovelace, Tom Schultz and Bruce Wiley.

Services were held Saturday, July 17, in Sheldon Chapel with Rev. Wendell Daniel officiating. Undivided Hearts provided the music. Interment was in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Pallbearers were – Adam Norris, Brian Dorge, Gerald Tucker, Tom Shultz, Scott Watkins and John Tucker.
