Vivian Schmidt Green, 80, passed on to her eternal reward on June 14, 2003, after a lingering illness. Vivian Theresa Schmidt was born Sept. 18, 1922, to Ernest Fredrick Martin Schmidt and Anna Theresa (Rairdan) Schmidt in Sunshine Valley, NM. As a small child she moved with her parents to Missouri and spent her life here.
Vivian attended Hazel Dell school. At age 18, Vivian was saved at a revival meeting in Stockton. She was baptized in Sac River near Caplinger Mills.
She met John Hawn at a neighborhood get-together. They went together for about three years. They were married in Kansas City on Dec. 31, 1940, at the stroke of midnight. To this union one son, Clifford Lee, was born.
Vivian was a housewife until 1960 when she went to work for the International Shoe Company. She worked there un¬til they ceased operations in El Dorado Springs in 1985.
Vivian loved gardening and she especially loved her flowers. Her family was the light of her life especially her great-grand¬son.
On Sept. 9, 1990, Vivian was united in marriage to George L. Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alfred; and her husband, George, who passed away on Jan. 13, 2002.
Survivors include her son, Clifford Hawn and wife, Sharon - rural El Dorado Springs; grandson, Conway Hawn and wife, Heather - Excelsior Springs; granddaughter, Cheryl Coleman and husband, Gary, and great-grandson, Gavin - Roscoe; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Howard McPeak officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Ruth Brown. Interment will be in Clintonville Cemetery. Pall¬bearers will be Steve Johnston, Charlie Dixon, Elmer Abbott, Ed McKinney, Bill Ellifrits, Dennis Schmidt, Rodney Schmidt and Don Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Duperron, Richard Humphrey and Bill Fairchild.
Family will receive friends from 7 - 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, in the Sheldon Chapel.
