Vera Ruth Souza

Vera Ruth Souza, 90, Butler, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Adrian Manor. She was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Providence, RI, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth Linell Smith. She moved to Schell City in 1942 from Rhode Island and lived there until 2001 when she moved to Butler.

She married Eugene Souza in 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Vera loved going to church, gardening, sewing, reading and playing Scrabble.

She leaves one son, David Souza, and his wife, Betty; four daughters – Sandra Fenton – Butler, Lynn Craig, and her husband, Eldon – Holden, Beverly Maus, and her husband, David – Nevada, and Carol Mallory – Holden. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and interment under the direction of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home were held Saturday, June 13, in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City.

Donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Gideon Bible Organization.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.
