Robert Charles Baer, 46, Schell City, the son of Robert John and Judith Anne (Bowman) Baer, was born March 22, 1965, in Muscatine, IA, and passed from this life at 9:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at St. Johns Regional Health Center in Springfield.
Robert attended school in Iowa and graduated from West Branch High School in 1983. About a year later, he, along with his family moved to the Nevada area. It was while living in this area that he met and married Shellie Peace. They became the parents of three children.
Through the years Robert lived in Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa, but in the early 1990s he made Missouri his permanent home.
He worked as a self-employed mechanic and farm hand and was employed by Dirt Works of Walker, Young's in Nevada and Schell City Truck and Tractor. His hobbies included a love of animals and the outdoors, a bit of bird hunting, a lot of fishing, but mostly he loved building trucks and running them through the mud.
Survivors include his three children – two sons, Robert James Baer and Ashley – Harwood; and Joel David Baer – Harwood; one daughter, Darci Anne Baer – Lufkin, TX; his mother and step-father, Judith and Bill Michener – Red Oak, TX; one brother, Richard James Baer – Bentonville, AR; and one grandson, Paxton Lane Baer. Robert was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ronald John Baer.
Services were Monday, Aug. 22, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, with Bro. Dan Fagala officiating. Pallbearers were Robert J. Baer, Joel Baer, Richard Baer, Kyle Begley, Tim Bailey and Rick Reasoner. Interment was in the Lefler Cemetery in Harwood.
