Roy Franklin Barlow, 76, El Dorado Springs, was born on Dec. 12, 1927, in Marcus, IA, the son of Carl and Annie Brown Barlow and passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004.
Mr. Barlow was employed for many years as fire chief of the Castlewood Fire Department, Castlewood, CO. Upon his retirement in 1979, the Barlow's moved to El Dorado Springs.
After becoming settled in Cedar County, Roy opened a saw shop and later drove cars for Fugate Motors.
An Air Corp veteran, Mr. Barlow was very involved with the Lutheran Church and the United Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs.
He was a member of the Lions Club and thoroughly enjoyed his association with this group.
Survivors include his wife, Donna - of the home; four children - Ron Barlow, and his wife-Sharon - North Glen, CO, Peggy Sokol and her husband-Mark - Littleton, CO, Paula Hjelm and her husband-John - Morrison, CO, and Steve Smith and his wife-Kathleen - Hernandez, NM; his sister, Dorothy Rose - Kentucky; his brother-in-law, Charles Hill - El Dorado Springs; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, March 13, in the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall under direction of Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
