Estelle Mae Haworth, 87, Nixa, died July 20, 2009. She was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Springtown, AR, the daughter of Lloyd and Luella (Hylton) Chastain.
Estelle was a graduate of El Dorado Springs High School. She then graduated from Draughons Business College in Springfield.
Estelle met Eugene Haworth while working at Nixa Cheese Plant. He was a milk hauler. They were married in 1942. Estelle later went to work at Kraft where she retired after 27 years. She and Eugene adopted two daughters, Vickie and Penni.
Estelle served 50 years as the Baptist Sunday School teacher, county PTA president until the age of 60, and treasurer of the American Legion.
Estelle was an outstanding and loving mother. She was especially known for her beautiful smile and loving touch.
Estelle was preceded in death by her parent and two brothers, Earl and Wayne Chastain.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Glen Haworth – Nixa; two daughters, Penni Gill and Vicki Cox, and Charles Boatman – Nixa; a sister, Lacy Casey – El Dorado Springs; two grandsons, Eugene Howard Cox, and fiancee, Jessica, and Marcus Andrew Cox, and wife, Melissa; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Mia Cox – Oklahoma.
A graveside service was held Tuesday with Al Boatman officiating, in Selmore Cemetery, Ozark, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
