Luke Aaron Gardner, 39, El Dorado Springs, passed away on July 27, 2009. Luke was the son of Richard and Sharon Gardner and was born March 26, 1970, in Topeka, KS.
After residing in several states as a child, Luke’s family made their home in Cedar County where Luke attended school in Stockton and El Dorado Springs.
Luke’s eldest son, Justin Wayne Short, was born Aug. 12, 1988. His second son, Chase Aaron, was born Oct. 29, 1992.
On Aug. 9, 1997, Luke was married to Crissa Joy Gerster. To this union two daughters were born, Caeleigh, 11, and Cyra Danae, 10.
After working in different areas, Luke made his occupation as a driller for the Pexco Drilling & Explosives Company, Lenexa, KS. He truly enjoyed his job.
Luke loved to hunt and fish, spend time with his family camping at Stockton Lake, and making people laugh.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Sharon Ann Gardner; his grandparents, Bob and Helen Meyer, and Joe and Ruby Gardner; aunt, Karen Whitesell; and uncle, Bill Meyer.
Luke is survived by his wife, Crissa; his daughters, Caeleigh and Cyra of the home; sons, Chase Gardner – El Dorado Springs, and Justin Short–– Texas; his dad, Richard–“Dick” Gardner”– El Dorado Springs; his mother-in-law, Pat Gerster; and many aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Luke’s gift of organ donation will make it possible for many others to have a healthier life.
Services were held on Friday, July 31, in the Church of God (Holiness), El Dorado Springs, with Derl Hicks officiating. Interment followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery with Luke’s body being conveyed there by Clear Creek Motorcycle Coach.
Pallbearers were Jason Best, Victor Ellison, Calvin Keith, Kelly Louderback, John Neal, Scott Roe, Travis Burchett and Mike Steward.
An education fund has been set up at Mid-Missouri Bank in El Dorado Springs for the children of Luke and Crissa Gardner.
