Helen Marie (Hill) Brasher, 61, born Dec. 29, 1947, to George and Lovell (Minor) Hill in Houston, MO, the sixth of six children. Helen went to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2009,
She attended school in Houston, El Dorado Springs and Nevada. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1966. After graduating she went to work at Witt’s Printing where she became acquainted with Beverly Brasher. Through this friendship she met her soon to be husband, Larry Brasher. They were married on Aug. 14, 1971.
Helen quit her job at Witt’s and went to work on the family dairy farm. She enjoyed helping take care of the cattle and all the joys of farm life. She was always there to do whatever needed to be done. Come spring, she was ready to start her garden. She had to have homegrown food to share with her family and neighbors. The grandkids always enjoyed grandma’s homegrown food.
Helen was a born again Christian. She was saved at a church revival after she graduated high school. She was baptized at Pine Street Church in Nevada. After marriage, she attended Fairview Community Church. She was an active member and was always ready to help with anything that needed done.
Along with church and the farm, Helen had one more chore, raising her five daughters. She taught them all to be hard workers and to do their best.
She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
She leaves behind her husband, Larry, of 38 years, and their five daughters - Christy McKinney, and husband, Rob, Charity Stuber, and husband, Ted, Carol Shumake, and husband, Bryan, Cherrie Brasher, and Cathy Brasher; eight grandchildren; one sister, Lois Simrell; one brother, Marvin Hill, and wife, Marj; a very special mother-in-law, Grace Brasher; and many other family and friends.
