Sammie Junior Shaw, 69, Kansas City, passed away on Aug. 9, 2009. He was born on Nov. 5, 1939, to Jake and Eula Shaw in Cedar County.
On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Donna Louise Godfrey. Sammie was an employee of General Motors for 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters – Viola Marshall, Prudy Keith, Betty “Wilma” Tompkins and Martha Tywanna Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; five children – Sammie Lee Shaw –Independence, Diana Lynn Davis – Orlando, FL, Mark Aaron Shaw – Kansas City, Elizabeth Jane Gambino, and husband, Tony – Kansas City, and Susan Marie Holliger, and husband Paul – Shawnee, KS; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Shaw, and wife, Alyene – Edwards, and Buddy Shaw – Olathe, KS; five sisters – Oma Biggs – Nevada, Ada Vrbanac, Ruby Janes, and husband, John, Wanda Keith, and Rena Jane Shaw – all of El Dorado Springs; many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Bro. Elbert Ford officiating. Interment will follow in White Hall Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Richard Shaw, David Kemp, Derek Kemp, Larry Lee, Bobbie Keith, Richard Tompkins and Frank Keith.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to High Hopes Cancer Fund and left at the funeral home.
