Doris Maxine Jackson, 90, Nixa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at her granddaughter’s home in Nixa following a short illness. She was born in Harwood to Bert Alumbaugh and Bessie Berniece Charles Alumbaugh.
She married Ralph James Jackson on Sept. 23, 1942, in Harwood. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Doris grew up in Harwood and was a member of the Harwood Methodist Church. She graduated from Walker High School. She worked for Nelly Don in Nevada for 26 years. She lived in El Dorado Springs for 10 years before moving to Nixa in 1996 to be near her family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry, in 1950; one son, Jimmie Jackson in 2005; and four brothers – J.C. Alumbaugh, Don Alumbaugh, Norman Alumbaugh and Lester Alumbaugh.
Doris is survived by one son, Larry Jackson, and his wife, Connie – Springfield; five grandchildren – Doug Jackson – Nixa, Denita Miller–– Nixa, David Jackson – Butler, Tina Holden – Ash Grove, and Stacy Mitchell – Goodman; great-grandchildren – Doug, Ashley, Amanda, Travis, Daniel, Jordan and Caleb; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Alyssa.
Services were held Friday, Aug. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment followed in Green Mound Cemetery, Harwood.
