Berna Faye Mendenhall

Berna Faye Mendenhall, 75, El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, Sept 23, 2009, at her home. She was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Benton County, MO, the daughter of Murl H. Reed and Gleen F. Reed.

Berna moved to Platte City, with her parents to attend and graduate high school. From Platte City, Berna moved to Garden City, KS, St. Louis, and Miami, FL. In 1992 she returned to El Dorado Springs, to help care for her parents. Berna loved working, crocheting, reading and reality TV.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Murl H. and Gleen F. Reed.

Survivors include two children: Donald Kent Whitton - El Dorado Springs, and Tamira Elaine Reed - Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren - Levi Esry and wife, Angela - El Dorado Springs, Justin Whitton and wife, Kristin - Carthage, Josh Whitton and wife, Monica - El Dorado Springs, and Nicolas Quiqq - Sacramento, CA; and four great-grandchildren - Elizabeth Whitton, Reed Whitton and Jessica Whitton - all of Carthage, and Lilly Esry - El Dorado Springs.

Graveside services were held at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 26, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
