Dustin Lynn Chance, 27, Fort Scott, KS, died early Thursday, July 24, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident on U.S. 69 highway, south of Fort Scott.
He was born Nov. 8, 1975, in Fort Scott, KS, the son of Terry Chance and Gwen Judy Chance.
Dustin was a 1994 graduate of Fort Scott Christian Heights School and received his bachelor degree in secondary education from Pittsburg State University in 1999. He taught journalism for three years at El Dorado Springs High School. Currently he was employed by New Image Design in the construction business. Dustin was a member of Parkway Church of God (Holiness). He had many hobbies and talents including art and photography but he had particular interest in the restoration of vintage cars and trucks.
Survivors include is father and mother, Terry and Gwen Chance - Fort Scott, KS; one brother, Brent Chance and his wife, Angela - Independence, KS; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Lee Ella Judy - Fort Scott, KS; paternal grandmother, Virginia Chance - Fort Scott, KS; and two nephews, Alec and Nate Chance.
His grandfather, Auburn Chance, preceded him in death.
Rev. Mark Stetler conducted services Monday, July 21, in the Parkway Church of God (Holiness). Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
