Eunice (Pace) Wilkins, 98, El Dorado Springs, joined her Lord on April 10, 2010. She was born March 1, 1912, the eighth of 11 children of Benjamin and Julia (Ogle) Pace and the last living sibling.
Eunice was married to Willie Whited on Oct. 31, 1928. Willie passed away on March 13, 1929. She married Olin Wilkins on Oct. 5, 1932. Olin preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1978. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
With times being hard, the newlyweds worked in several places including Denver, CO. They finally settled in Kansas City, KS. While living in Kansas City, Eunice worked as a seamstress in garment factories. During those years, many nieces and nephews lived with Aunt Eunice while making the transition from a country kid from Cedar County to an adult in the city. After retiring in 1977, Olin and Eunice returned to El Dorado Springs.
Eunice was saved as a child and was always a member of a church wherever she lived. She was presently a member of the Assembly of God Church in El Dorado Springs, joining in 1977. She was a faithful worker in the nursery and most recently helped in one of the Wednesday night classes. She made many quilts to be given to missionaries, new babies and new brides, piecing as many as two a month.
Until she broke her hip five years ago, she spent her Friday mornings at Community Springs Healthcare Facility, passing out juice to the “old people.”
She is survived by one brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to name.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, in the Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Dana Taylor officiating. Songs, The Last Mile of the Way and My Savior First of All were sung by Allison Leonard with accompaniment by Joanne Alexander. Interment followed in Sandridge Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were great-nephews - David Beydler, Dwight Beydler, Tim Bough, Don Beaty and Jim Caldwell.
