Nellie Evelyn Ray, 95, El Dorado Springs, formerly of Muscotah, KS, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Cedar County Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Evelyn was born June 8, 1914, in Trigo County, KS, the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Shell) Bell.
She lived in the Larkinburg, KS, community until she was united in marriage to Martin Ray on Nov. 13, 1937, in Holton, KS. They made their home in the Muscotah, KS, community.
She worked at the Horton & Holton Garment Company until she retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Larkinburg, KS, Christian Church and life member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a son, John, and wife, Elizabeth Ray – Muscotah, KS; daughter, Marilyn, and husband, Paul Dresch - El Dorado Springs; brother, Ralph Bell - Oroville, CA; grandchildren - Tina (James) Torkelson - Robinson, KS, Tammy (Duane) Sinclair - Everest, KS, Troy (Brenda) Dresch - Kansas City, Tracy (Debbie) Dresch - Independence, Terri Dresch - El Dorado Springs; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, in the Becker Chapel, Effingham, KS, with the Rev. Tim Ahlgren officiating. Burial followed in the Muscotah Cemetery, Muscotah, KS.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
