Ada Irene (Pinkley) Capps


Ada Irene Pinkley Capps, 86, daughter of Horace and Maude Pinkley, was born on June 17, 1924. She left her earthly home and her dear family to be with her heavenly Lord and Savior on June 18, 2010, after several years of various illnesses.

Ada lived several years in the Kansas City area until after the death of her husband, Glen Capps. After Glen’s death, she moved to Chanute, KS, to be close to her sister, Maudie M. Churchill. Ada lived several years in Chanute, KS, until after Maudie’s death. After the death of her sister, Maudie, Ada then moved to El Dorado Springs in the fall of 2001 to be near what family she had left. Her family then consisted of several nieces and nephews.

Ada accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior several years ago. She worshipped at Blue Ridge Holiness Church.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Glen Capps on June 28, 1947. To this union they adopted one child, Robert James Capps, who was born January 10, 1962.

After retirement, Glen and Ada traveled all over the U.S. to bluegrass festivals. She absolutely loved bluegrass music. Glen and Ada came from the city every weekend to spend time with nieces and nephews in this area and in the Collins area. They loved their nieces and nephews so much, they would take turns taking them back to the city with them for a few days at a time. She had several grandchildren. She was especially close to Rebecca, Stephanie and Josh Capps who live here in El Dorado Springs not far from Ada’s home.

Ada was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen, and her sister, Maudie, and several other family members.

She is survived by her son, Robert James Capps; her grandchildren - Jason, Josh, Stephanie and Rebecca Capps; her daughter-in-law, Christine Ann Capps; two sisters-in-law, Corda Verley and Bonnie Capps; many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends and Annie Spencer and Lois Hood whom she loved dearly.

Services were held Tuesday, June 22, in the Sheldon Chapel with Rev. James Coleman and Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Music was Amazing Grace by Stephanie Capps, In the Garden by Jannah Farrington and In My Father’s House.

Casketbearers were – Joe Barger, Bryan Cloyd, Jared Dutcher, Joshua Capps, Jeff Capps and Greg Powell. Interment was in the Freman-Holsapple Cemetery, Collins.
