John D. Solomon, 55, Halstead, KS, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. He was born Sept. 21, 1954, in Newton, KS, to John J. and Bettie (Dunn) Solomon Davis.
John graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1972.
In 1994, John married Tammy Cramer in Newton, KS, and she survives of the home.
He worked for the former VIM Trailers for 22 years and was the parts service manager for the Truck Parts Company in Wichita, KS.
John was a member of First Missionary Church in Newton, KS, where he served as a deacon and other volunteer positions within the church, including mowing.
He enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Cottonwood Falls Classic Car Club. He also enjoyed building his home in Peabody, KS.
John was a family man who greatly enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, kids, grandkids, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Solomon; brother, Willard Solomon; two nephews; and step-father, Arthur Davis.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Tammy, of the home, include his mother, Bettie (Dunn) Davis – Newton, KS; sons – Bobby Rose – Walton, KS, Billy Rose – Newton, KS, Joseph McMurray – Caney, KS, and Jonathon McMurray – Chicago, IL; daughters, Crystal Loving – Locust Grove, OK, and Sarah Solomon – Halstead, KS; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Solomon – Newton KS, and Steve Solomon – Newton, KS; sister, Peggy Wheaton – Antioch, CA; aunt and uncle, Shirley and Clinton Solomon – Peabody, KS; and aunt, Mary Kimberlin – El Dorado, KS.
Services were held Monday, June 28, at First Missionary Church in Newton, KS, with Pastor Ray Adams officiating. A graveside committal service was held on Tuesday, June 29, in Flat Rock Cemetery near Schell City.
