Marilyn Sue (Henderson) Jones, 67, Liberty, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at KU Medical Center following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Marilyn was born Nov. 19, 1942, to Marland and Velma (Capps) Henderson.
Marilyn graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. She was an avid cook. She enjoyed digital scrap booking, music of all sorts and was a debater of politics. She was faithful and a believer in the Word of God. A true matriarch of the family, Marilyn was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Steve Jones; children - Marla Wynes-Leeper and husband, Dennis, Randall Wynes and wife, Bobbi Jo, and Joel Wynes and wife, Lydia; step children, Brian Jones and Laura Jones; grandchildren - Micah Wynes, Katelin Valadez, Rebecca Wynes, Sarah Wynes, Taylor Dyer, Christopher Valadez, Jonah Wynes, Shelby Dyer, Jillian Valadez, Maleah “Mimi” Wynes; step-grandchildren - Douglas Spivey, Reade Spivey and Dennis Leeper III; brother, Gene Henderson and wife, Judy; and one expected great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Graveside services will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. Marilyn’s favorite charity was St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
