Clemit C. Casey, 82, the son of Olin and Agnes Casey, was born on Sept. 25, 1928, and graduated from this life on Dec. 15, 2010.
On May 11, 1952, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Doris, or as he affectionately referred to her - “Punk.” Their love would
be a love for the ages and their home would be a haven for the entire family.
Clemit and Doris had two sons: Mick Casey of Forsyth and Dr. Rick Casey of El Dorado Springs. Clemit’s sons were his pride and joy and he constantly spoke about them. Clemit had three grandchildren - Patrick of Santa Monica, CA, Sarah of Ft. Bragg, N. C., and Scott of El Dorado Springs. Clemit and his grandchildren were extremely close and they will miss him every day until they see him again.
Clemit also loved his four great-grandchildren - Taylor, Trey, Taryn and Talon, who always lit up his face with a smile.
Clemit leaves behind his brother, Curmit, of Overland Park, KS, whom he loved dearly and his sister, Wanda, of El Dorado Springs, who stood by his side until the end.
Clemit was raised in the Blackjack community in St. Clair County and lived there until he took a job working for General Motors in 1947. He was drafted into the Army in 1950 during the Korean War and spent two years as a paratrooper.
In 1952 he became the assistant plant manager of the Parts Department of General Motors in Lenexa, KS, a position he held for over 28 years.
Upon retiring, he moved to El Dorado Springs and bought a restaurant which became Casey’s Honey Bee Restaurant. He spent over 26 years enjoying thousands of customers telling stories, serving pie and making each customer feel special.
Clemit was a lifelong member of the Church of God (Holiness). He was a devout Christian and always made sure to have his Bible near. On his final days on earth, he made sure that it was known that he was ready to go and he had his peace.
Clemit was so thankful for all the loving care that he received from so many, including his daughter-in-law, Karen, and sister, Wanda.
Clemit was the patriarch of his family and always had the best advice or a clever saying to make you smile.
He leaves behind a multitude of friends, family, wonderful memories and a legacy of love that will endure for eternity.
Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness). Rev. Joe Trussell and Rev. Brent Bland officiated. Patrick Casey, Barry Witt and Larry Oehring provided music. Interment followed in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Pallbearers were - Scott Casey, Chuck Gruver, Randy L. Bland, Randy E. Bland, C. E. Hackleman and Lester Burres. Honorary pallbearers were: Gerald Bland, Junior Bland, W. D. Eason and Gene Norman.
